Vietnam : These are images I captured on a recent trip to Vietnam. I shot most of these with a Nikon D90, Tokina 12-24mm and Nikon 35mm lens. I tried to capture as many candid shots as possible. I don't mind posed images of people, but they change their expressions as soon as they realize their picture is being taken. In the markets, I tried to hold the camera along my leg, at their level, and shoot with the Tokina 12-24 at the fastest aperture. About half the time I got the shot without the person realizing what I was doing. I love how close you can get to your subject with this lens. I also learned, due to the heat, that you have to get up around 5:30 am to shoot the daily activities of ordinary citizens. The heat and humidity really get going around 12:30-1:00, which is a good time for a break. I usually shot until dark, and sometimes after dark. Sidewalks become an extension of most peoples' homes and businesses at night. It is a great opportunity to shoot with a fast lens. I hope you like the images. Battle of Aiken 2012 : Photographs from the Battle of Aiken Reenactment 2012. Thanks to all the re-enactors that give their time so generously for this event. I hope my photographs due you justice. I'd like especially thank John Osteen, the Lott family of the Culpeper Camp, members of the 5th Georgia Cavalry, the members of the 21st Mississippi all the way from Ontario, Canada, the Brooks LIght Artillery the 28th South Carolina Lexington Guards and the lovely ladies of the 27th South Carolina.
